Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, announced on Friday that the state has attracted investments worth Rs 30,000 crore in the past nine months, citing a pro-industry atmosphere and business-friendly policies. This influx of capital is expected to generate employment opportunities for thousands of young individuals. Prominent companies such as Tata Steel, Verbio, Freudenberg, and Sanathan Textiles have committed to investments, signaling confidence in the state’s industrial policies.

Mann, speaking during the distribution of appointment letters to new recruits at Markfed and the launch of new products at the municipal bhawan, highlighted the positive response from entrepreneurs in the food processing and agriculture sectors following recent meetings in Hyderabad. He emphasized the elimination of corruption, consistent power supply to industries, and a conducive environment as key factors attracting industrialists to Punjab.

The Chief Minister contrasted the current situation with past regimes, where industrialists had to navigate political influence and endure challenges to establish industries. He asserted that his government’s efforts to eradicate corruption and create a favorable business environment are yielding positive results, positioning Punjab to become an industrial hub.

Addressing opposition criticism, Mann argued that detractors were attempting to tarnish his reputation because his government exposed previous administrations’ attempts to exploit the state. He emphasized his commitment to the well-being of Punjab and its people, accusing past governments of supporting criminal activities like gangsterism and mafia operations, which his administration has successfully eliminated.

Mann highlighted the government’s commitment to youth employment, citing the distribution of over 21,000 government job appointment letters in the past nine months. He underscored the merit-based recruitment process and announced plans to distribute appointment letters to over 3,000 master cadre youth on New Year’s Day, strengthening the education system.

A significant development mentioned by the Chief Minister was the decision to recruit 1,800 constables and 300 sub-inspectors annually in the police department, with scheduled examination dates to allow dedicated preparation by aspiring candidates. Emphasizing education as a top priority, Mann announced a historic teacher-parent meet in government schools on December 24, encouraging parents to actively participate and receive detailed feedback about their child’s progress from teachers.
